Jose Mourinho may be losing his magic wand in the dugout but the Portuguese tactician is still a highly sought-after football manager with an unrivaled antecedent in the sport.

Days after losing his job as Roma manager, Mourinho was reportedly contracted by Saudi club Al-Shabab. As per reports, talks between the two parties were progressing as the 60-year-old aimed to return to the dugout quickly.

Now, a fresh report by Pedro Morata has confirmed the talks have broken down as Mourinho has rejected the offer with an undisclosed 'stand-by offer' awaiting him.

It is still unclear why the former Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Real Madrid manager turned down the offer but that is the second time he has rejected the allures of the oil-rich state to continue his career in Europe.

Mourinho, who had a one-year contract remaining on his Roma contract, revealed he turned down a lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.

Sources close to the Europa League and Champions League winner revealed the Portuguese was ready to extend his stay in Italy and continue with the Roma project only to be sacked at the dearth following a poor run of form at the domestic scene.

Where is Jose Mourinho coaching next?

It is still unclear where Jose will pit his tent. However, it is understood he will continue his career in Europe and has had a 'stand-by offer' on the table after being shown the exit door by Roma.

Reports have it that Mourinho is currently in Spain. Unverified sources claim the Premier League and La Liga winner is in for another big project with a top Spanish club. It will be the second time Mourinho has anchored the dugout in Spain if he lands a new role with a Spanish side.

Mourinho managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning the La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and Supercopa de Espana.
