After spending 17 days in captivity, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani finally confirms the release of the abducted Kuriga school children.

On 7th March 2024, bandits invaded the Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in the Kuriga area of Chikun LGA in Kaduna State, kidnapping 287 students and staff. The kidnappers had communicated with the families of the victims, asking for N1 billion, buses and motorcycles in ransom.

In a recent statement by Gov. Sani, he expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for ensuring the safety of the school children as they return home to their families unhurt. Gov. Sani also thanked the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and the Nigerian Army for their utmost support towards the release of the children.

There is no information regarding the fate of the kidnappers. Also, it is uncertain that the school children were released on ransom or through any other means.
