Newcastle United have reportedly called off Kieran Trippier to Bayern Munich move following incongruous positions between the two clubs.

Kieran Trippier was a top transfer target for Bayern Munich, who are targeting the player to fortify their backline this summer. Trippier is key to Newcastle United squad. The England right-back has made 19 appearances for the Magpies this season, providing 7 assists.

However, sources close to the player revealed he was eager for a link-up with his former Tottenham teammates - Harry Kane and Eric Dier who have switched from the Premier League to take up a new challenge with the Bundesliga giants.

According to the Sun, Bayern Munich offered £12.8million to Newcastle United but were turned down as the club considers the former Atletico Madrid defender key to the team.

Kieran Trippier himself is not pushing for Newcastle United exit, as per club sources but would not hesitate on the reunion with the two aforementioned players with Newcastle United struggling with a similar fate that has befell Tottenham in recent years - a long-running trophy drought.

On January 2023, Kieran Trippier extended his contract with Newcastle United till 2025. The England defender is 33 and will turn 34 before his contract expires. Despite turning down a £12.8m offer for the player, it is believed a slight increase in the offer to £15m could have forced the Tyneside club to sell.

Now, it appears the doors to a possible with Bavarians have been closed based on a recent comment by Bayern director Christoph Freund.

Speaking with Sky Sports Germany, Christopher Freund said: “The Kieran Trippier deal is off.

“We only do what we are 100 per cent convinced of."

Trippier has spent three seasons with Newcastle United since joining the club from Atlético Madrid in the 2020-21 season. He played an integral role as the team qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years last season. Trippier has made 81 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 3 goals.
