Kwara Government reduces workdays for civil servants due to fuel subsidy removal


The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the reduction of workdays for civil servants in the state due to the fuel subsidy removal.

This is so as to reduce the impact of the removal of the fuel subsidy on their salary.

The Governor then met with some leaders in Kwara on Monday after approving the reduction of workdays, urging them to understand how the fuel subsidy removal was done with good intentions and this is so as to stop further damage to the economy.

The civil servants in the wastage will now work for 3 days instead of 5 days. The authorities in the civil service are to release further instructions regarding this.

He stated that the removal of the subsidy was a serious decision but the government had to take the step for the good of the country.

The Governor had revealed this to the Kwara Labour leaders heed with.

He stated that during the subsidy, Nigeria was running on a deficit budget and it was hurting economic growth.

He revealed how the country had to keep borrowing and there wouldn't be much resources for infrastructural development, growth or creation of jobs.

But now that the subsidy has been removed, the government can focus on those.

He said the government understands what people are going through but it's so that the interest of everyone is secured.

The NLC Chairman was in attendance at the meeting as well as the Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kwara state, State TUC Chairman, Chairman National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners Association (NAGGMDP) and some other top leaders.



Muritala Saheed who is the NLC Chairman of the state revealed that this meeting which the governor had called showed good leadership and agreed with all that has been said.
