Kylian Mbappe's stunning strike for PSG against Real Sociedad was so hard that it broke a hole in the net.

The French star was on fire for the Ligue 1 powerhouse as he pulled an extraordinary performance in the UEFA Champions League round of 16-second leg against the Spanish outfit to send his side to the quarter-final of the tournament.

The former AS Monaco netted a brace and was awarded a Man of the Match honor due to his efforts throughout the game, meanwhile, it was the 25-year-old first goal that left fans stunned.

Kylian Mbappe collected the ball near the touchline and after showing quick feet to Igor Zubeldia, he blasted away a shot towards goal from a tight angle which goalkeeper Alex Remiro could not deal with.

The ball flew in through the far post and was such a powerful force behind it that the net got damaged.

The center referee from England Michael Oliver had to halt the game for a while as he was informed on the radio that the ball had broken the net.

PSG were excellent in the first half as they not only choked the opposition with their persistent possession in attack but also kept things tight at the back to completely restrain the home team.

Mbappe scored again in 56 minutes of play, as PSG progressed 4-1 on aggregate, with Mikel Merino only able to get a late consolation for Real Sociedad.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner seems to be furious with how he was treated by PSG boss Luis Enrique in their last two league game, following speculation that the forward will depart the club this summer.

It has been reported that the forward is set to leave the French side in the summer on a free transfer, joining Real Madrid after seven years of a love-hate relationship with the Ligue 1 powerhouse.

Mbappe was subbed off in PSG's last two league games, with some attributing that to his desire to leave the club at the end of the season.

He watched the second half of PSG's draw with his former side Monaco from the stands after being withdrawn from the action at half-time.

Mbappe reportedly held clear-the-air talks with Luis Enrique, where the PSG coach is thought to have told the forward that the substitutions were not personal, and had nothing to do with his decision to leave the Parc des Princes.

Instead, he believed Mbappe wasn't fully fit and wanted to save him for upcoming games of greater importance, such as the Champions League matches.

Mbappe's latest strike against Real Sociedad improves his goal tally in the Champions League to 45 goals in just 69 games and has become the first player in Europe's top five leagues to be involved in 40 goals across all competitions this season.

Real Sociedad vs Paris Saint Germain in brief

Mbappe increased PSG’s lead 15 minutes into the second half, racing in behind the defense from the halfway line.

The forward recorded another shot to the far post but then tricked Remiro by sliding home at the near for his sixth goal in eight Champions League matches this season.

Real Sociedad substitute Ander Barrenetxea had a goal ruled out for a tight offside moments after coming on.

Gianluigi Donnarumma made an excellent save to prevent Benat Turrientes's strike, as the hosts started to threaten consistently, in search of a consolation goal which finally came at the end of the game.

Donnarumma parried away a cross into the middle of the box and Mikel Merino was in the right position at the right time to fire home.

PSG will have issues to deal with following Achraf Hakimi's yellow card which will rule him out of the quarter-final first leg.

What's next?

League leaders PSG host Reims on Sunday afternoon, March 10 in their next Ligue 1 game, before they welcome Nice in the quarter-final of the French Cup three days later.
