Liverpool saw off Fulham with an aggregate 3-2 victory to set up a rollercoaster EFL Cup final showdown with Chelsea next month.

Having cruised pass the Cottagers in the first leg with a 2-1 victory at Anfield, Liverpool needed a draw at Craven Cottage to seal their ticket to the EFL Cup final.

It was a nervy clash in front of thousands of Fulham fans expectantly awaiting a magic against the Merseyside club to qualify for their first-ever EFL Cup final.

The two teams have met twice this season with Liverpool, scoring and conceding to escape with narrow win margins, hence Fulham weren't push-overs against the star-studded visitors.

It was largely end-to-end as the game kicked off with Liverpool trying to outrun the hosts with their usual long balls.

Fulham held on but were finally broken up in the 11th minute. An assist from Quansah saw Luis Diaz fire Liverpool into the lead.

The goal forced Fulham off their half as they committed more bodies forward trying to find an equaliser. Struggling to create chances, the Marco Silva-led side were forced to trail the visitors by a lone goal at the break.

It was a promising second half for Fulham as they improved play, wielded possession, and executed well-coordinated offensives enough to break Liverpool's defense. However, it was still barren with a little over 20 minutes left to play.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 77th minute. Issa Diop beat Liverpool's defenses to score the equaliser for the hosts, thanks to an assist from Wilson.

With the scores tied at 1-1 draw, the Reds came under pressure as they risked being dragged into extra time should Fulham take the lead.

It ended squares after the final whistle as Liverpool held on to secure a 3-2 aggregate win. The Reds will take on Chelsea in the final after the latter saw off Middlesborough with a 7-3 aggregate win.
