Liverpool impressively increased their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a fantastic 4-0 win against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on Sunday, January 21.

The absence of key players, including Mohamed Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations and injuries to players like Trent Alexander-Arnold could not stop the Reds from humiliating Bournemouth.

Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota's brace gave Liverpool a fantastic 4-0 victory against the Cherries.

The match in details

Bournemouth took an aggressive approach from the start, with Kluivert making a strong run down the right flank in the 2nd minute, but his cross was blocked for a corner.

The Cherries continued to press, earning another corner in the 6th minute. Tavernier delivered a low ball into the box following a clever short-corner routine, but Alisson pushed it behind for another corner for the hosts and finally headed clear by Van Dijk.

Bournemouth were able to work around the Liverpool press, but Tavernier's pass to Solanke was not accurate enough to set him clean through on goal.

Neither team had made a significant effort on goal in the first 15 minutes, but Liverpool gained more control of possession in the midfield.

In the 20th minute, Liverpool had a prime opportunity when Mac Allister advanced and took a shot that missed the left post.

Nunez also had a chance for a goal with a free header, but it went over the bar. Despite dominating the game, Liverpool couldn't find the back of the net in the first 30 minutes, while Bournemouth struggled to move out of their half.

Both Liverpool and Bournemouth both managed shots on target, but the first half ended with both teams not creating many clear scoring opportunities.

Liverpool started the second half with a beautiful one-touch play and put on a strong press to make something happen.

The one-touch play eventually led to Darwin Nunez scoring a fantastic goal for Liverpool in the 48th minute.

Nunez neatly struck the ball beyond Neto after receiving a wonderful pass from Jota.

Although Bournemouth nearly retaliated with a deflected shot that left Alisson stranded, Liverpool managed to withstand the pressure and came out unscathed.

Nunez's opener had provided the much-needed boost for the Reds as Liverpool made it 2-0, thanks to a wonderful strike from Diogo Jota who assisted the first goal.

Diogo neatly strolled the ball inside Bournemouth's net to double the lead with Cody Gakpo on the assist.

Bournemouth aimed to fight back as Lewis Cook swung in the ball from a corner on the left in the 78th minute, but it was nowhere near a teammate.

Diogo Jota made it 3-0 as he fired in a wonderful shot with the right foot in the 79th, converting Conor Bradley's wonderful pass.

Nunez surprised the host club with a spectacular goal in the 93rd minute, just when it looked like the game was going to end 3-0.

The cross by Joseph Gomez from Liverpool successfully found Nunez in the box and he wasted no time to seal the 4-0 victory.

Jurgen Klopp'Liverpoolol now sit at the top of the premier league table with 48 points following a deserved 4-0 victory against Bournemouth.
