Man Kills his father with a pestle in Rivers state

A man who has been identified as Ikechi allegedly killed his father recently in Rivers State. This man made use of a pestle as the weapon in killing his father. This incident occured in Rumuaghaolu, in Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State.

He killed his father over money and what had led to this was when he asked his father for some amount of money and his father refused. The man had suddenly become angry because his father denied his request and took a pestle and hit his father with it.

It was some eyewitnesses who had revealed the story of what had transpired. The witnesses shared that this incident happened around 2.45pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The witnesses shared that they suspected he was on drugs.
According to the witness “He was enraged over the deceased’s refusal to give him money. The boy was suspected to be on drugs. He carried a pestle and hit his father.”

They also shared that when the boy realised his actions after he hit his father, he tried to escape but he was caught by other residents in the area around. It was then they all raised alarm over what had occured.
The boy has been arrested by the Rivers State police and he is in police custody. An investigation is ongoing into the case.

Grace Iringe-Koko who is the spokesperson for the Rivers state police command has also confirmed the incident.
She stated “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The boy has been arrested and the matter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Investigation is still ongoing. If there are further developments I will let you know. For now, the boy is with us.”
