Man sentenced to 10 months in prison for stealing a generator.
A man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for stealing a generator. It was a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court who gave the sentence. The magistrate who delivered the judgement is Mr. Ibrahim Emmanuel.
This happened today, Tuesday June 27. This man has been identified as Bala Hassan and he is 25 years old.
He had conspired with someone else and stole a generator set. This generator was worth a sum of N450,000.
He pleaded guilty to this crime and went ahead to plead with the court for leniency.
The magistrate then gave the sentenced based on his guilty plea and the fact that he is a first time offender. They also said he didn't waste the time and resources of the court.
They pronounced his sentence and also gave him an option to pay N20,000 as fine.
He also said this will seve as a warning to any body who tries to attempt such a thing next time.
Chidi Leo who is the prosecution counsel had told the court that this man stile the generator on the 23rd of June.
He says they were unable to recover the generator even after this man comfesed to the crimes during the investigation.
