Abuja Police Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi has spoken about the man who fired shots in the air during the re-opening of the Ladipo market. He said that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police had figured out the identity of the man and would immediately act on what he had done.

Recall that the traders at the popular Ladipo market were captured jubilating over the reopening of the sealed market by the Lagos State Government. While celebrating, a man continuously fired gunshots in the air. At first, one would think the man who fired shots was a trader but looking closely, his gun had the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) colors on its cartridge.

People argued that it was unsafe to fire gunshots in a public gathering because people could have easily gotten hurt. However, the man seemed to be in a celebratory mood with the traders after months of being restricted from selling in the market.

Also, recall that the famous Lagos Ladipo market was closed down for months by the Government after extreme violation of environmental rules. The spare part market has now fully begun operations after a proper clean-up to ensure it was safe and healthy for both sellers and buyers.

The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu through his spokesperson Tokunbo Lawal has urged the traders to comply with the waste management best practices to keep the market safe for all and sundry. Traders have been implored to adhere to the market maintenance instructions to avoid future indefinite closure of the market.
