Manchester City hosted Crystal Palace in the English Premier League matchday 17 on Saturday, December 16.

The defending champions settled for a draw which dragged them into fourth place in the Premier League standings.

However, it was the Citizen's incredible eye-catching statistics against Crystal Palace that handed them a new Premier League record.

The current European champions started the match without Erling Haaland, there were concerns over how Man City's attack would cope.

Jack Grealish's goal was the difference at the first-half break after an assist from Phil Foden, but the former Aston Villa was not the only one to create a chance against the Eagles.

However, every outfield player for Man City managed to create a chance in the first 45 minutes as the Premier League champions dominated the first quarter at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

It is the first time on record that all ten outfield players have done so in the first half of a Premier League game.

While Man City might have been at their creative best of the game, they were lacking that final touch in the box and it cost them a lot, with Crystal Palace securing a late comeback to protect a draw.

It is the certain kind of performance that Haaland would no doubt have been making use of had he been fit for the game.

But the former Borussia Dortmund striker is presently sidelined with a strange injury with Pep Guardiola confessing he is not sure he will be back soon.

The former FC Barcelona coach said; "Hopefully he can travel to Saudi (for the Club World Cup), whether he can play the first game or the second, I don't know".

"It is not a fracture, just stress. Sometimes players recover quickly, some longer".

"Day by day, week by week, we see how he feels. The moment he doesn't have pain he will play".

Man City were already staying behind in the Premier League title race after starting the weekend in fourth place.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace in brief

Rico Lewis doubled City's lead shortly after the break with a close-range finish, but Jean-Philippe Mateta sparked the comeback with a goal in the 76th minute of play.

Michael Olise then snatched a share of the points with a cool penalty in the fifth minute of injury time after Foden conceded a foul in the box.

Man City could find themselves even further behind should Liverpool, Arsenal, and Aston Villa win their games on Sunday, December 17, after letting a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 with the Eagles.

What's next for Manchester City?

Man City will not be back in action in the Premier League until after Christmas as they travel to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup.

They take on AFC Champions League winners Red Diamonds in the semi-final before potentially facing either Al Ahly - who beat Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad or Fluminese.
