Market Overview- Tuesday, June 24, 2025

The Nigerian equities market continued its bullish run today as the NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) rose by 1.02%, closing at 119,790.82 (up from the previous 118,579.65). This brings the Year-to-Date (YTD) gain to a strong 16.10%.

Trading activity also picked up:
• Volume traded rose by 16.28%, moving from 628.73 million to 731.08 million shares.
• Market turnover (total value of shares traded) increased by 7.15%, from ₦19.92 billion to ₦21.34 billion.
• A total of 20,539 deals were recorded.

The market showed solid breadth, with 68 stocks advancing and only 25 declining, giving a strong market breadth ratio of 2.72x. Notably, volumes rose for 86 stocks, while 55 stocks saw volume decline — indicating broad investor interest, but selective momentum.

Top Performing Stocks Over the Last 5 Trading Days
• Ellah Lakes surged by over 32%, trading at ₦5.86. It also posted over 109% gains month-to-date and over 113% YTD — likely due to its small float and speculative interest.
• Champion Breweries matched that energy with a 32.6% gain, closing at ₦9.02. The stock has now rallied 160% YTD, making it one of the top performers on the exchange.
• FTN Cocoa gained over 27% in the past 5 days, with today’s move taking it to ₦3.08. Investors are possibly positioning ahead of expected sector developments.
• Neimeth rose by over 24%, closing at ₦4.07 — showing fresh interest in healthcare stocks.
• Presco continued its agricultural sector dominance, jumping over 23% in 5 days to ₦1,210, and clocking 168% YTD return.
• Stanbic ETF 30 and Beta Glass each posted 21% gains, with Beta Glass standing out for its remarkable +414% YTD rally.
• NAHCO advanced by nearly 19% to ₦94, fueled by increased logistics and aviation demand.

Stocks That Declined Over the Last 5 Days
• DAAR Communications dropped 9.2% over 5 days and 7.8% today alone, closing at ₦0.59. Its recent volatility suggests high retail participation and lack of institutional interest.
• NEWGOLD ETF fell 5.9% over the past week and nearly 8% today, indicating profit-taking in gold-backed assets.
• Multiverse saw a minor correction after its recent rally, slipping 4.6% but still maintaining a 14% YTD gain.
• Regal Insurance also edged lower by 4.5%, closing at ₦0.65, while IMG and Aradel Holdings dropped around 4% each, possibly due to pre-dividend weakness or muted investor sentiment.

Daily Gainers – June 24, 2025

Some stocks hit the maximum daily gain of 10%, including:
• Dangote Sugar – closed at ₦44.00
• Okomu Oil – ₦748.00
• Stanbic ETF 30 – ₦375.10
• UPDC – ₦3.30
• Beta Glass – ₦333.95

These names are enjoying strong institutional flows and positive technical momentum.

Daily Losers – June 24, 2025

On the losing side:
• NEWGOLD ETF dropped sharply to ₦52,500.00, a 7.89% loss, likely from profit-taking in gold-related instruments.
• DAAR Communications declined by 7.81% to ₦0.59, under pressure from weak fundamentals.
• Prestige Assurance fell by 5.56%, while IMG and NPF Microfinance Bank dipped by 4.3% and 4.25%, respectively.

Final Thoughts

The broad-based rally today was supported by strong volumes and price movements across key sectors like agriculture, industrials, and ETFs. Investor appetite appears to remain strong, particularly for high-momentum and dividend-yielding stocks.

But as always, continued diligence is advised. Some of the top performers are in overbought territory technically, meaning short-term pullbacks are possible.
