The shooting led to the death of 14 people and others injured. The culprit was a student at this university and this incident was considered as the worst mass shooting in Czech Republic. The incident occurred yesterday, Thursday, December 21, 2023.
According to the authorities, more than 20 people were injured and not less than 14 killed. This happened at the philosophy department building of the university. The shooter has been identified as a student, but his identity wasn’t disclosed to the public. The shooter (gunman) also died in the incident. It isn’t clear if he killed himself or was killed in a gunfight with officers. Authorities have revealed that the death toll may still rise as investigation is still being conducted and bodies being found.
The police are yet to release any information about the victims who died in the incident or the injured victims as well. They are yet to determine the motive behind the killings but revealed that they do not suspect that there are any links between the shooter, the shooting, and any extremist groups. They also couldn’t link him to having any accomplice in the crime. The police also revealed that the shooter also killed his father earlier that day before he went to the university. They also discovered that he had also been planning on committing suicide. The police conducted a home search, and it is believed that this man also killed a man and his 2-mont-old daughter in Prague on the 15th of December.
