On Monday, 29th of January 2024, the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly demanded that some departments within the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria relocate from Abuja to Lagos to improve productivity and save costs.
The Minister for Information and National Orientation passed this message to the public stating that the relocation has been slated to happen on Friday, 2nd February 2024. He also cleared the air, stating that contrary to the narratives moving around, the government did not make the decision for political reasons,
Although the plan has become a thing for discourse in the community, government officials have said that the plan is still on and departments affected are expected to move in a few days, which is the 2nd day of the next month.
