Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has backed the West London club to turn things around following their recent victory against Fulham on Saturday, January 13.

The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach further revealed that his side deserved to win the game.

Chelsea secured a hard-fought three points in their London Derby showdown against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

The only goal of the game came from a penalty converted by former Manchester City wonderkid, Cole Palmer, who has been incredible for Chelsea this season judging by his recent performance.

The penalty was awarded in the dying minutes of the first half after Fulham's Issa Diop brought down Raheem Sterling inside the box.

The 21-year-old Palmer confidently sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, marking his ninth goal in the league campaign.

However, the match was a testimony to Chelsea's solidity, as they managed to hold onto their narrow lead despite Fulham's late intense pressure to find an equalizer.

Crucial scenes included a shot by Conor Gallagher that hit the goal post and a vital save by Chelsea's shot stopper Djordje Petrovic to deny Fulham's Raul Jimenez.

The triumph elevated Chelsea up the Premier League standings, continuing their tempo with three consecutive league successes.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Pochettino said that they deserved to win the game despite it being a tough contest.

He said; "That is the Premier League, you watch some games and some happen like this. It was a really tough game. Overall we deserved the victory, we were the better side. We needed the three points and now I think it is four victories in a row here at Stamford Bridge".

Pochettino advised his side to keep the momentum going and feels the upcoming break will be good for the players, with Chelsea now winning three matches on the trot in the Premier League.

He added; "It is important. We need to keep pushing. We have a break but that will be good for our players. Too many players played too many games so a break is good".

What's next for Chelsea?

The London team will shift attention to their next game in the EFL Cup second leg against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, January 23, at Stamford Bridge.
