Michael Folorunsho, an Italian-born Nigerian attacker, made the headlines with his stunning goal against Juventus in Italian Serie A on Sunday, February 18.

Folorunsho, 26, scored a stunning opening goal as Hellas Verona fought Juventus to a standstill at the Marcantonio Bentegodi in a heated Serie A matchday 25 clash.

The prolific midfielder scored raced Hellas Verona into the lead with breathtaking goal in the 11th minute. The goal has been making rounds in Italian media with football fans tipping it to contend for the Serie A goal of the season, or possibly the Puskas Award.

It all started from Suslove's inswinging corner. Adrien Rabiot was in an apt position to clear the corner but he could only clear it as far as Michael Folorunsho who was positioned at the edge of the area.

Having Rabiot's header loop to his route, Folorunsho pulled an incredible left-footed volley, firing a thunderbolt pass a helpless Wojciech Szczesny.

It was an incredible effort by the footballer. Dusan Vlahovic would score the leveler for Juventus via a spot-kick before Noslin fired Verona into the lead again in the 52nd minute.

Three minutes after Noslin's strike, Adrien Rabiot scored the equaliser again for the Old Ladies and it ended 2-2 at the blast of the final whistle.

Michael Folorunsho's stunning goal has continued to hug the headlines after the game. The 26-year-old stakes a claim on his superb and prolific goalscoring abilities with the superb strike.

It was his third Serie A goal for Hellas Verona in his 24 appearances for the club.

Who is Michael Folorunsho?

Folorunsho is a Nigerian by descent but was born in Rome, Italy. He nurtured his football career in Italy. The Napoli loanee started his professional football career with Serie C side Virtus Francavilla Calcio before being signed by Napoli in 2019.

Folorunsho is yet to make a single Serie A appearance for Napoli since joining the club. He has been loaned to four different clubs in Italy's lower division before returning to the elite division with a fifth loan spell to Hellas Verona.

Playing as a midfielder, Folorunsho is known for his eye for goal. He has scored 21 goals in his 114 appearances for different clubs in the Italian league.

As per reports, Michael Folorunsho had expressed his interest in playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and would be hoping for a call-up with his impressive outing with Hellas Verona.

A potential setback for the Rome-born Nigerian star would be his lack of experience in international football. Folorunsho has not tasted international football throughout his career. However, he has beat the odds to emerge as a top Serie A star.

In the just-concluded 2023 AFCON, Folorunsho fell below the pecking order in Jose Peseiro's midfield options for the Super Eagles. However, the Napoli loanee would definitely earn his stars with a call-up should he continue to impress in the Italian elite division.
