The government of Mexico reported that over 100 people have died due to extreme heat, and the bad news?

Scientists have predicted another heatwave to re-occur in July.

With over 1000 heat-related emergencies reported between June 12 and 25th, 104 of the victims ended up losing their lives. That is according to the report released by the Health Ministry on Wednesday.

Similar cases were previously reported between April 14th and May 31st, where eight death was recorded. This brings the total number of fatalities to 112.

The extreme heat caused the victims to become dehydrated.

According to the Health Ministry, the highest number of fatalities were recorded in Mexico's northern regions.

In the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon, 64 deaths were recorded, while 19 deaths were recorded in Tamaulipas.

The maximum temperature recorded so far this week was 49 degrees Celsius, which struck the northwestern state of Sonora.

The Health Ministry added that, on average, the maximum temperatures recorded during summer fluctuate between 30 and 45 degrees Celsius.

As it stands, Mexico authorities have warned the population of another heatwave predicted to affect the country starting on July 1st.
