Arsenal manager had provided an injury update on three long term absentees ahead of the Brentford match in the Premier League.

The manager confirmed Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Jurrien Timber are not fit for the match against the Brentford side.

These players had been out for a long time and their respective return date are not certain.

Arteta said “In the last game with Japan he felt something, he was out. We expected it to be a little bit shorter, but in the beginning he was struggling a bit in the recovery so we decided to extend the period of recovery because he’s a player that we really need. We are very short and we cannot risk having him out for months."

On Jurrien Timber, the manager said “All the physios and medical staff are very happy with his attitude and his commitment and especially the way things have gone but it is not a coincidence.”

“The way he applies, how determined he is, his willingness to put every effort into everything he is demanded to do.”

In addition, there was an initial fear that Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were going to be out of the match due to the injury.

Saka was substituted in the match against Sheffield United as a result of illness. Martinelli got substituted after he had a cut on the foot.

Both players were not pictured in Arsenal training, but Mikel Arteta claimed the players are ready to play as they are looking forward to going to the top of the table.

In a press conference ahead of their clash against Brentford, Arteta said, "We got some players back last Monday and then we had Martinelli and Bukayo with little issues. We’re pretty positive that hopefully they can be part of that. But we’ll have to see how they feel on Friday.”

Aaron Ramsdale is expected to start in goal against Brentford due to David Raya being ineligible to play against his parent club.

The goalkeeper hasn't participated in a lot of matches this season but the match against Brentford is a opportunity for him to return to the team's first eleven.

Arsenal are expected to keep pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City on the Premier League table with the eighth win consecutively.

Even though Arsenal are currently in the third place on the Premier League, they may move to the top of the table if they defeat Brentford and Liverpool game against Manchester City end in a draw.

That will leave Arsenal on top of the table with goals difference after a prolific run in 2024 scoring 31 goals in the last seven league matches.

Apart from the Premier League, the Arsenal manager is also focused on winning the Champions League at the end of the season.

However, for this to be attained, Arteta needs all his players to be fit for the rest of the season.
