In a meeting with the members of the House yesterday, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that he will be sharing a token which he referred to as 'holiday money' to the senators.

He said this right after a meeting forgetting that he was still on live television and the microphone was on.

"In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our accounts by the clerk of the National Assembly.", He said.

After realizing that he goofed, he stylishly said, "I withdraw the statement. In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return" and laughed it off.

This got many Nigerians talking online about how he was confident in sharing funds to senators after the huge salary and bonuses they enjoy.

Here are some reactions below:

Nigerian senators have a fat salary which comes with several bonuses that have been deemed unnecessary by the general public. Though it has been scrutinized, they still continue to receive it.
