Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool training ground after he underwent a muscle injury during the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Reds welcomed the Egypt captain back to the first team for the first time since he suffered an injury in Egypt's unsuccessful AFCON campaign.

What happened?

The former AS Roma limped off towards the closing phases of the group stage match last month, with his ensuing recovery plan resulting in a major fuss back in his country.

The decision was taken for the former Chelsea forward to undergo his rehabilitation back at Liverpool, with the plan to return to the national camp should Egypt make it to the final phase of the tournament in Coast d'Ivoire.

Meanwhile, things didn't go according to plan for the Pharaohs as the seven-time AFCON champions crashed out of the competition after they suffered a defeat via a penalty shootout at the hands of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 16.

However, transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Salah made his first appearance in the training ground on Tuesday, February 13, ahead of the Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday, February 17.

The 31-year-old was seen in good condition as he joined his teammates, who have maintained their bid to secure the Premier League title this season.

Salah's last appearance for the Merseyside outfit came in a 4-2 win over Newcastle United on January 1, in which he bagged a brace with an assist.

Since then, Liverpool have advanced to the final of the Carabao Cup and also defeated Fulham to secure a place in the FA Cup fifth round with victory over the Gunners and Norwich City.

The Reds have been in impressive form in the League, though they saw a 3-1 setback to Arsenal which reduced their lead chance to two points over their title rivals (Manchester City and Arsenal).

What is next for Mohamed Salah?

It remains to be seen whether the Liverpool star man will start against Brentford but the Reds' fans can be rest assured he is likely to feature in one way or another.
