NGX Trading Summary – Wednesday, May 21, 2025
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) ended today’s session on a mixed note, with notable increases in trading volume and deal count, despite a slight dip in the total value of trades.
A total of 664.16 million shares were traded across 19,439 deals, amounting to a market value of about ₦12.99 billion. This reflects a 34% increase in volume and a 3% rise in the number of deals, even though the total turnover declined by 2% when compared with the previous day (Tuesday, May 20).
The overall market capitalization now stands at ₦68.9 trillion, reflecting the current value of all listed equities on the Exchange.
Out of the 124 equities that participated in today’s trading:
• 29 stocks recorded gains,
• 28 stocks declined,
• While the rest remained unchanged.
On the gainers’ list, RT Briscoe led with a full 10% share price increase, closing at ₦2.09 per share. This was followed by Eunisell Interlinked, which rose by 9.75%, Livestock Feeds with a 9.61% gain, and Linkage Assurance, which appreciated by 9.46%.
On the flip side, Champion Breweries was the worst-performing stock, dropping by 10% to close at ₦7.20 per share. It was followed by Lasaco Assurance, which also fell by 10%, McNichols, which lost 9.45%, and Multiverse Mining & Exploration, which declined by 7.22%.
In terms of trading volume, Japaul Gold and Ventures topped the chart with 90 million shares exchanged. Next in line was Tantalizers, which saw 82.7 million shares traded, followed by Fidelity Bank with 67.7 million shares, and Nigerian Breweries, which recorded 52.2 million shares.
Overall, today’s session shows that investor sentiment remains active, with increased participation and movement across several stocks—even though total market value dipped slightly.
