Following the terrorist attack on innocent parishioners at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa, in Owo, Ondo State, on Sunday, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi bemoaned that Nigeria is rapidly descending into a failing country.

He, on the other hand, urged all citizens to work together to save the country from impending disaster.

Hundreds of people had died in the vicinity as a result of the gunmen's onslaught, and many more were being treated in hospitals.

Some political, religious, and social-cultural leaders, as well as organizations, have condemned the incident, urging President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to track down the offenders and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.

The former Anambra State governor, who joined stakeholders in condemning the horrible killings of innocent Nigerians, urged both the federal government and the Ondo State administration, led by Rotimi Akeredolu, to do all possible to bring the killers to justice.

Obi made these remarks on his Twitter page on Sunday evening, expressing his condolences to the assaulted church, the bereaved, and the state of Ondo.

"What happened in Owo today confirms my belief that our country is rapidly devolving into a failing state."

"I sympathise with the families of the victims, the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, the people, and the government of Ondo State," he said.

We implore the federal government and the state government of Ondo to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
