Controversial media personality Daniel Regha stated that the Nigerian National football League Super Eagles won South Africa's Bafana Bafana by chance.
The Super Eagles team defeated Bafana Bafana in the semi-finals game yesterday after a challenging penalty shoot-out. Nigeria's Ekong won the first goal for Nigeria but at the 90th minute, the game closed at 1-1 after South Africa's Mokoena scored. The game ended with a penalty shoot-out with Nigeria leading with 4 points and South Africa with 2 points.
The jubilation was at an all-time high yesterday as Nigerians took to the streets to celebrate the Super Eagles qualifying for the AFCON finals for the first time in 11 years. The last time the team played in the finals was in 2013 when they won the cup against Burkina Faso.
Daniel Regha, the outspoken personality known for his social commentary, said the Super Eagles underperformed yesterday and only won the match by luck. He said the team could have done better because South Africans played a good game.
However, on Sunday, February 11th, 2024, at exactly 9:00 pm, Nigeria and Ivory Coast will meet on the football pitch for an intense battle for the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
