Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Galatasaray for Ivorian defender Serge Aurier.

Aurier, 31, joined Nottingham Forest in 2022 from Villarreal signing a two-year contract. He has made 39 appearances for the club and had six months left on his contract before the Tricky Trees decided to part ways with the player.

It is understood Nottingham Forest weren't eager to extend Serge Aurier's contract and were eager to cash in on the player this January instead of losing him as a free agent at the end of the season.

Known for his versatility and strength on the right-back role, Aurier is one of the most experienced football defenders in the world. He has had stints with Lens, where he started his career, Toulouse, PSG, Tottenham Hotspur, and Villareal before his Nottingham Forest move.

Details of his contract with Galatasaray are yet to be disclosed but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Turkish club have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the player.

The Ivorian national team captain will be expected to leave AFCON to Turkey following the agreement with Nottingham Forest. He will be expected to play a big role as Galatasaray, who dropped off from Champions League group stages, set out to continue their European campaign in the Europa League while also pushing for the Super Lig title.
