Nottingham Forest may face legal consequences as they are said to owe millions in overdue payments to their agents.

If not resolved promptly, the club’s management has been cautioned that this could result in further repercussions.

As it stands, Forest could face the wrath of the English FA, with agents fuming over unpaid fees.

If the Premier League club don't pay up, then they could be hit with a transfer embargo by FA.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail revealed in August that several players who left the club in the summer were supposed to have received their season bonuses, including Premier League survival payments, by the end of July.

Unfortunately, these payments have not been made, leading to outstanding debts that include commission payments on transfers that agents depend on for their income.

Forest’s silence on the matter has raised eyebrows, and concerns are mounting as the club's agents have sworn to take legal action against them.

According to The Sun, some agents are now considering taking legal action against Nottingham Forest due to unresolved debts.

Despite Forest's active involvement in the transfer market, agents were still pursuing their payments last week.

And The Sun further reports that agents have the legal right to request the FA to impose a transfer embargo on Forest.

In preparation for their second season back in the Premier League, manager Steve Cooper made 14 signings, including the record-breaking £30 million acquisition of Ibrahim Sangare from PSV.

Despite these new signings, Forest's recent form has been poor, with four losses in their last five matches, including a defeat to Everton on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

The Toffees, who were harshly punished by the Premier League for breaking financial rules, secured a 1-0 victory thanks to Dwight McNeil's second-half goal.

The result has raised concerns about the club's ability to compete effectively given their ongoing financial issues.

Currently, Forest sit in 15th place, six points above the relegation zone after 14 matches.

However, a potential transfer embargo in January could hamper their ability to strengthen the squad.

The club's hierarchy must address the overdue payments and potential legal issues, as the club's future could be at stake.

The transfer window is set to open in the new year, providing an opportunity for clubs to make new signings.

What's next?

Forest need to get back to their winning form as they near the relegation zone.

Steve Cooper's team will next be seen in away Premier League action when they take on Fulham on Wednesday, December 6 at Craven Cottage.

The Premier League match is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 pm.
