Darwin Nunez is the only player on record to hit the woodwork 4 times in a Premier League encounter.

Nunez had his efforts hit the bar on four different occasions in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Chelsea, which included him missing a penalty as the ball bounced off the post and out.

In the 9th minute of play against Chelsea, the forward fired a shot from 25 yards out, with Blues goalie Petrovic getting a fingertip to his effort which struck the crossbar and ascended out for a corner.

Nine minutes later, Nunez also had to deal with the stumbling block, with his attempt from the left side of the post being pushed onto the upright by Djordje Petrovic.

Subsequently, 2 minutes into additional time in the first half, Nunez couldn't tuck away his penalty from 12 yards, as his strike struck the post, much to his dismay.


Fifteen minutes before the expiration of the clash, Darwin Nunez also had his effort from inside the box hit the woodwork, following a left-wing cross.

Darwin Nunez has struck the woodwork 11 times in all competitions this campaign and it appears that is a herculean hurdle he will have to overcome in the coming games.

The Uruguayan has scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 appearances for the Reds this campaign, and he has shown great improvement in his play this term.

Darwin Nunez has been characterized by his wastefulness in front of goal since he joined Liverpool in 2022, however, he has somewhat upped his performances this season.

Nunez joined the Merseyside-based club from Benfica on July 1, 2022, for a fee of €85 million.

The 24-year-old is hoping to click fully into gear in English football, to meet up to the level expected of him in the division.

Cumulatively, Darwin Nunez has netted 26 goals and provided 15 assists in 76 appearances across all competitions.

Internationally, the attacker has scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 22 appearances for Uruguay in all competitions.

He made his debut for the South American nation in a 1-1 draw against Peru on October 16, 2019, aged 20 years, 3 months and 22 days.

Anyway, Liverpool return to action on Sunday, February 4, 2024, facing Arsenal in a riveting clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds sit at the summit of the log, with 51 points from 22 league matches and they are aiming to offer Jurgen Klopp, who will be exiting at the end of the season, a perfect send-forth by winning the league, with Darwin Nunez also expected to provide his quota to the team.
