Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the return of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to Vice President Kashim Shettima's office.

This information was disclosed in a statement released by Mr. Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President.

NAHCON is in charge of supervising, regulating, and granting licenses to various organizations that are engaged in coordinating the movement of people from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj and Umra.

The body also monitors organizations that offer accommodation and transportation services for pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

NEMA, on the other hand, is a body in charge of handling disaster-related matters in Nigeria. The body was established in 1999 and is saddled with the responsibility of creating awareness, enlightening, and proferring solutions to the consequences of disasters in the country.

Recall that the former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, had previously removed NAHCON and NEMA from the office of the Vice President. Now, they have been returned to office by President Tinubu.

Olusola Abiola further stated, "The President has also approved a formal structure for the Office of the Vice President as well as an appropriate number of technical and administrative aides that will work with the Vice President in the discharge of his responsibilities."
