President Tinubu signs old national anthem into law
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signs into law the old Nigerian national anthem today, the 29th of May. That means that the previous national Anthem which was popularized in schools, national, and international gatherings ceased to be effective today. All Nigerian schools are expected to teach their students and pupils the old national anthem.
This news triggered reactions from Nigerians across the globe, most of which were in opposition to the signed bill. Many opined that changing the national anthem isn't an action point the President shouldn't take. There are more pressing issues in the country and the national anthem should be the last thing on Mr. President's agenda.
