Nigeria's Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has stated that the ongoing protests on economic hardship are heavily sponsored by some individuals to sabotage the government.

There have been several protests across the country in states like Oyo, Niger, Ogun, Sokoto, etc against the rising cost of living.

Akpabio said these protesters aren't aware of the numerous efforts made by the FG to contain the economic situation in Nigeria. He stated that the current economic hardship in the country is factored by issues stemming from COVID-19, insecurity, and inflation which created a gap in the finance of the nation.

He stated that if the government attempts to fill this gap, the people will be subjected to suffering.
