The residents of the Alapere Estate, in Ketu Area or Lagos, have called upon Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to help reconstruct the collapsed pedestrian bridge in the Estate. A certain group of individuals who are members of the Joint Action Good Governance Association wrote a letter regarding the state of the bridge and submitted it to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.

It was noted that if the bridge was left unattended, it could cause harm to the residents and disrupt daily commuting. They called upon Governor Sanwo-Olu to take swift action to avert the looming dangers the collapsed bridge could cause.

The letter which was signed by the association's vice president reads:

“We, the undersigned members of the Joint Action for Good Governance, write to express our deep concern and urgency regarding the recent collapse of a section of the pedestrian bridge at the Alapere Estate, Ketu area of Lagos. The incident, which occurred on December 8 resulted from a collision involving a truck, raising significant apprehension among the residents and users of this vital infrastructure."

It continued, “The collapse of the pedestrian bridge poses a substantial risk to the safety and well-being of the Kosofe residents, particularly those who regularly utilise this bridge to cross the busy road. We, therefore, respectfully appeal to the Lagos State Government, under the able leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and to our esteemed representative in the Kosofe Federal House of Representatives, Kafilat Ogbara, to prioritise this."

“We want them to expedite the reconstruction of the collapsed section of the Alapere Estate pedestrian bridge,” it concluded.
