Rio Ferdinand has made a bold claim, expressing that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will exit the Gunners if he is being poached by Manchester United.

Ferdinand indicated that if Arteta was at the summit of the Red Devils' recruitment list, he would not hesitate to join Manchester United, in the eventuality of Erik Ten Hag moving to Bayern Munich.

Mikel Arteta has been magnificent at Arsenal in recent years, changing the fortunes of the club positively.

His early years at the Emirates were filled of thorns, but the Spaniard managed to weather the storm impressively.

The Gunners were on the cusp of winning the Premier League title last campaign before inexperience showed fort when it mattered most.

Anyway, it appears they have learned their lessons from the previous campaign, and with the addition of some high-profile players, they are back to challenging for the league crown.

Arteta was appointed manager of the Gunners on December 22, 2019, and he currently has a deal that runs until 2025.

Mikel Arteta was formerly assistant manager of Manchester City, serving under Pep Guardiola from July 1, 2016, to December 20, 2019.

The 41-year-old led Arsenal to the FA Cup title in his first few months handling the team, and he also helped the Gunners win the 2020 and 2023 FA Community Shield.

Speaking on his Vibe With Five podcast, Rio Ferdinand made a huge statement regarding Mikel Arteta.

He said: “Mikel Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100%.

“No one is saying it’s happening but if Man United in a wild dream said, ‘do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you’ or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich, and he goes there, and then Man United say top of the list is Arteta, Arteta is going in and saying to the lads, ‘listen, guys, it’s been emotional but I’ve got to move, I’ve got to go.'”

Rio Ferdinand has apparently been getting under the skin of Gunners supporters in recent weeks, having previously expressed that Bukayo Saka is not a world-class player.

Meanwhile, Arteta guided Arsenal to qualification for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League - the first time they are making it to the competition since the 2016/17 season.

The Gunners currently occupy the 3rd spot on the Premier League table, with 58 points from 26 matches, 2 points adrift Liverpool, who sit at the top of the log with 60 points from 26 matches.

It will be intriguing to see if Mikel Arteta's side can shockingly win the title this campaign, with several players in the side turning up the heat on many occasions this campaign.

In terms of experience, the team includes past winners of the Premier League title, and some other players in the team would have learned some lessons from their outing last season.
