Rivers Police arrest Tenant for stabbing Landlord

Officers of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a man who had stabbed his Landlord. This man has been identified as Patrick Essien and he had allegedly stabbed his landlord.
This incident occurwd in Rumuiprikon located in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. This was on Monday, August 28th 2023.

The Landlord has been identified as Iheanyichukwu America and he had gone to separate a fight between Mr Patrick and his wife. He wanted to rescue Patrick Essien’s wife from him as she had been manhandled by her husband when the situation occurred.

It was the wife of the Landlord who was stabbed that narrated this. She said the Landlord didn't want the wife of the tenant to sleep in the house because they had a quarrel and later that night, the tenant had suddenly came to check their house if his wife was there and then attackd the Landlord for interfering.

She said, “He (Patrick Essien) tried to drag the wife to go inside with him but my husband (the Landlord) said he would not allow him and that he would not allow the woman to sleep in their house because of the situation. My husband insisted that the woman would sleep in his family house and in the morning, we would know what to do. So he moved the woman out of their house. Then around midnight, the man came to attack my husband in the process of coming to check if his wife was in our house, but she was not there.”

The elder sister of the Landlord also mentioned that this action which the tenant took was that of attempted murder. The family of the Landlord has asked that Justice be served.

The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko has also confirmed this incident she revealed that they have arrested the tenant
She also mentioned that the Landlord is also receiving medical attention in the hospital he was taken too. She also revealed that they were investigating he matter.

She said “We are aware of the matter. The suspect has been arrested and he is in our custody. An investigation is still ongoing,”
