Mrs. Akudo Azoroh, the operator of the baby factory, was arrested alongside her accomplice in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government area during a police raid after rescuing 6 pregnant women between the ages of 20 to 23 years.

Mrs. Azoroh confessed that she started this illegal business three years ago, and she has sold 6 babies since then. She claims she only sells the babies to families in need of children for an amount of 1.4M to 1.5M Naira based on their gender and not to ritualists as speculated.

Contrary to the belief that there were boys who got them pregnant, the suspect clarified that these pregnant women came to her on their own, intending to giving out their babies after birth since there was no means to take care of the baby. She added that she pays them from 800,000 and above according to the stage of the pregnancy at the time they came and the gender of the baby.

Polycarp Nwonyi, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, has assured the public in his media brief that the prime suspect and her accomplice are still in police custody and investigation is still ongoing to be sure whether there are other parties involved in the crime.
