Security Operatives must be stopped from the senseless killing of armless youths- ASUU tells FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU in a statement released via micro-blogging site, Twitter has appealed to the Federal Government to lead the path of Justice restoration and replenishment of peace in the nation noting that operatives of various Security units must be prohibited from murdering Nigerians and Hoodlums responsible for recking lives & properties and hijacking of peaceful demonstrations by protesters should be brought to law.

In it's statement the union addressed the incident of killings in Lekki toll plaza as it condemned the deployment of Military operative on unarmed protester just after noting that the youths of Nigeria are right to insist on seeing evidence of how well the government has met their five-point demand.

Statement of ASUU;

"The Federal Government must lead the way in restoring peace and Justice in Nigeria. Security Operative must be stopped from the senseless killing of armless youth protesters while infiltrators must be brought under check through active intelligence.

"For obvious reasons of past betrayal, the youth are right to insist on seeing evidence of how well the government has met their five-point demand. It is only by the continuous engagement that this would happen, not by the deployment of trigger-happy military personnel as reportedly done in the case of the Lekki Toll Plaza."
