Sokoto and Kaduna State High Court sentenced 5 persons to a total of 17 years in jail for fraud and impersonation

Joseph Moses, Raji Tijjani, and Albert Bulus pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 4 years imprisonment each by Justice Muhammad Sifawa of the Sokoto State High Court for crimes relating to fraud, impersonation, and false claims. The defendants were arrested by the EFCC operatives in Sokoto Command.


The EFCC mentioned via its Twitter handle that the prosecution counsel, S.H. Shehu prayed that the court convict and sentence them accordingly.


Additionally, Kaduna State High Court Judge, Justice Darius Khobo convicted Favour Arasomwan (aka Lewis Richard Micheal) and Oyebamiji Stephen (Lorraine Ramsdell) after they pleaded guilty to cyber fraud. The two were accused of scamming people of their hard-earned money while disguising themselves under fake social media handles.


Arasomwan was sentenced to three years imprisonment while Oyebamiji received a lesser judgment of two years imprisonment.


The duo was given a chance to either pay a fine of #150,000 each or serve their punishment. Additional punishment was for them to forfeit some of their personal belongings such as the defendant's iPhone XR, an iPhone 11 Pro Max, one Hisense 1.5 horse power air conditioner, one Hisense 75" Television, three LG standing fans, four burners Maxi gas table top cooker, one Hisense Mini fridge, one Midea deep freezer, one Hisense microwave, one television stand, one outdoor relaxation swing, two mini garden chairs, one mini table, and a set of sofa to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
