This season, Arsenal are back in the title race while Manchester City seemed to be falling off the pecking order.

With the first lap of the season crossed, Arsenal are top of the Premier League. However, it appears Liverpool are more likely to replace Manchester City on the race with the Gunners. Can Arsenal win the Premier League title?

Statistics Shows Arsenal Are More Likely to Win 2023/24 Premier League title

While it will be too early to draw conclusions on who is more likely to win the Premier League this season, it is safe to say Mikel Arteta has positioned Arsenal again for the title race.

In a top-of-table clash against Liverpool on matchday 18, the Gunners ensured they salvage a valuable one point at Anfield to retain their top spot on the table.

Aston Villa would have had the chance to go top of the table but were held by Sheffield United at Villa Park. This means Arsenal will go into the Christmas Eve on top of the Premier League table.

In the last 14 seasons, 10 of the Premier League winners have been top of the Premier League table on December 25. In the past 32 seasons, 16 table-toppers had went on to maintain their stranglehold on the league crown.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League table with 40 points at the time of filing this report. Meanwhile, some teams are yet to round up their matchday 18 fixtures but Arsenal will stay top regardless.

Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Tottenham who are closest to the Gunners, have played their matchday 18 fixtures.

This means the Gunners will sit comfortably at the summit of the league on December 25 heightening their chances of winning the league based on records.

However, it is pertinent to note that not all teams who finished top of the table on Christmas Eve ended up winning the league.

As per Goal.com, Newcastle United, Norwich, Liverpool, Aston Villa, including Arsenal have all finished top of the league on Christmas Eve but ended up being capitulated on the title race.

Last season, Arsenal finished top of the table on Christmas Eve but ceded the title to Manchester City later in the campaign.

This season, the Gunners will be hoping to avert such misfortune and finally put an end to their two-decades wait for the Premier League title.
