Suspected robber set on fire by Anambra residents
Some residents of Anambra State have set a man who is an armed robber on fire.
Some men who are armed robbers robbed a house in Anambra State on Wednesday and stole lots of valuable items.
These men after taking valuables also kidnapped a lady who resides there.
The armed robbers were going back to their place when Some residents of a community that neighbors the area they had robbed were able to block the exit of the roads and intercepted them.
These residents had mobilized themselves to intercept the robbers.
The residents got hold of one of these men and set him on fire. They were also able to catch another one but the others ran away and escaped.
Due to this, they were able to rescue the lady that had been kidnapped.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who is the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this news.
He said that they had alerted the police in the area but before they arrived, These residents had already set one of the robbers ablaze.
He said that they had received a distress call along St. Monica College Road in Ogbunike. They were able to arrest one armed robber named Jamui Emiron, and recovered a bus that had been destroyed.
The police also rescued the man who had been set ablaze.
He said this man is now at the hospital receiving medical treatment while the other is currently at the police station.
He said that Echeng Echeng who is the State Commissioner of Police has told the residents to stop jungle justice and report to the police to handle matters.
