Takehiro Tomiyasu has returned to Arsenal training after the Japanese underwent a calf injury during the Gunners game against Wolverhampton earlier in December 2023.

The London club have been handed a huge boost ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on December 31, as Tomiyasu was spotted in training on, December 30 before the match.

Tomiyasu was filmed beside Mohamed Elneny in the background, with Eddie Nketiah and Ben White showing in front.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old will be included in Arsenal's lineup against Fulham, but he is believed to be available for the Gunners before heading to international duty for the AFC Asian Cup in January 2024.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old has been a pivotal part of the Gunners team since he arrived from Bologna in the summer of 2021.

The versatile defender has featured in 19 games in all competitions for Arsenal this season, scoring a goal and dashing out three assists, and he has been a very significant member of the squad this campaign.

Arsenal will return to action on January 7 after their match against Fulham on Sunday, when they lock horns with Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup at Emirates Stadium, and Tomiyasu could feature in the game if he misses the game against Fulham.

The West London outfit have lost two English Premier League games and drawn another one in the absence of Tomiyasu, and they have currently found themselves in fourth place in the table as a result.

The Japanese International return will come as a timely boost for Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard will continue his Premier League pursuit.

However, missing him for up to a month due to the Asian Cup tournament could end up being another setback.

The tournament will kick off between January 12, and February 10, as Japan have been drawn alongside Indonesia, Iraq, and Vietnam in Group D, while their opening match will come up against Vietnam on January 14.

Tomiyasu is a key member of the Samurai Blue and will be looking forward to impressing at the competition as his country looks to win it for the first time since 2011.

What's next for Arsenal and Tomiyasu?

It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old will start for Arsenal or be used as a substitution against Fulham on Sunday as the London club will be looking forward to securing a victory in a race for the Premier League title.
