President Tinubu has signed into law the bill for the retirement age of judges, raising it from 65 to 70.
The bill which was titled: “Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 (fifth altercation) (No.37) bill, 2023”, was signed by President Tibunu yesterday June 8th 2023.
Earlier in May, the former attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami advised the former president Muhammadu Buhari to decline assent to the bill which he was supposed to sign.
Malami claimed the bill was too ambiguous. He implied that it made no justification for the extension of retirement age and benefits for judges.
