Nigerian chess master and founder of Chess In Slums, Tunde Onakoya beats US national chess champion, Shawn Martinez as he attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest unbeaten chess marathon by a single individual in 58 hours.

Tunde Onakoya began on Wednesday, 17th April 2024 at Times Square, New York and he has maintained an unbeaten run, winning all opponents, including US chess champion, Shawn Martinez. Tunde Onakoya has spent 20 hours out of his allocated 58 hours. The exercise will end on Friday, April 19th, 2024.

Celebrities and important personalities including Adekunle Gold, Femi Adebayo, Funke Akindele, Tony Elumelu, Yemi Osinbajo, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu among others have supported him. If Tunde Onakoya successfully breaks this record, he will claim the title from Hallvard Haug Flatebo and Sjur Ferkingstad from Norway.
