The Rev. Fr. Christopher Onotu, a Catholic priest, was kidnapped from his church in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area, Kogi State, on Saturday night.

At around 9 p.m., the shooters allegedly broke into the church's vicarage, burgled the window through which they entered the priest's room, and snatched him away.

When the majority of the church's members went to the first mass on Sunday morning, they found out.

The hoodlums took the priest's automobile, according to a member of the church who spoke to the press.

They took his two phones but not his sim cards. For the past few weeks, citizens in the state's central senatorial region have been terrified by the gunmen's operations.

On his way to the mosque in Ogaminana, a prominent politician and board member of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) was kidnapped just a week ago.

His abductors have yet to make contact, so there has been no update on his whereabouts. All attempts to reach SP were unsuccessful because William Aya's, the public relations officer for the Kogi State Police Command, could not be reached.
