Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid made a savage '4-1' hand gestures to the Barcelona bench after Ronald Araujo's late red card in the Super Cup final.

What happened?

The 23-year-old scored twice in the opening ten minutes in the showpiece game at Al-Awwal Stadium on Sunday, January 14, to stun Barcelona, copying Cristiano Ronaldo's popular 'Siuuu' celebration in the process.

The forward completed his hat-trick via a penalty kick to secure Real Madrid's 3-1 lead at halftime.

Rodrygo rounded off an extended victory for Carlo Ancelotti's side in the second half, and Barcelona’s night went from bad to worse in the closing stages as defender Ronald Araujo was sent off for a second yellow card.

Vinicius Jr. found himself back in focus as he was involved in an argument with the Barcelona bench, and the forward used the opportunity to remind the off-field players of the scoreline.

Anger flared among both sets of players after Araujo was red-carded, and Vinicius was filmed taunting the Barcelona bench by reminding them of the scoreline, he was seen making a 4-1 signal to the Barca bench.

Rodrygo attempted to guide his Brazilian team-mate away, while Fermin Lopez was filmed shoving the Real Madrid attacker out of frustration.

Meanwhile, Barcelona head coach, Hernandez Xavi has now lost four El Clasico games against Real Madrid in less than a year, he's the first Barca manager to record the unwanted feat in 70 years.

Carlo Ancelotti, on the other hand, has now won 29 of his 33 knockout matches as Real Madrid manager and has delivered a total of seven trophies since returning to the club in 2021.

What's next for Real Madrid?

Sunday's victory over FC Barcelona is the first of four trophies that Los Blancos are aiming for this season and based on their recent performance they’ll be a threat on all fronts.

With the likes of Luke Modric (who picked up his 30th career trophy), Eduardo Camavinga, and Brahim Diaz all on the bench, it felt like Carlo Ancelotti’s team are only just getting started even as Andriy Lunin performed admirably in place of the benched Kepa Arrizabalaga.

In addition, Vinicius and his teammates will hope to keep up their tempo when they come up against Atletico Madrid in what promises to be a battle-to-finish Copa del Rey round of 16 tie on January 18.
