According to Prof. Jerry Gana, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Atiku Abubakar will virtually probably lead the party to victory in the2023 generalelections. Gana told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that Atiku's emergence as the PDP's presidential candidate is a welcome development.
Gana remarked that the PDP is more concerned with winning the presidential election in 2023 and that he is unaware of the existence of the APC.We don't care what other parties do; we don't try to be like them; we structured our primary election to be as successful as possible."
"We don't know if APC exists or not; where have they gone?" He stated, The PDP has produced an excellent pattern for others to follow."
He argued that because a consensus candidate for the presidential primary was deemed undesirable, the party was unable to reach an agreement. In order to locate a respectable competitor, we decided to make the event open and free.
He commented, This has proved our faith in democracy, as well as the ideals of fairness and fair play. According to Gana, the party gave delegates the freedom to vote for their preferred candidate without any temptation or coercion.
A credible candidate capable of governing Nigeria and making a difference emerged in the end, he said.
